Our paper on adaptation of CRISPR activation for neuronal systems has been accepted for publication in eNeuro. This work was headed by Katherine Savell and Svitlana Bach, but was a team effort involving a substantial fraction of the lab. This manuscript details significant alterations to available CRISPR/dCas9 tools in order to achieve robust and efficient gene regulation in neurons. This system provides a specific, modular, and multiplexable platform for titratable upregulation of selected genes both in vivo and in vitro, without the need for a specific transgenic animal. The plasmids outlined in this manuscript are available on Addgene. Congrats to everyone that assisted in completion of this manuscript!
